MOUNTAIN LION HUNTING SPECIAL

Dates: January 3-8 Cost $3,500

Wyoming Mountain Lion Hunting

Mountain lion hunting is one of our hunts we specialize in! These mountain lion hunts take place from December thru February. They are conducted with the use of 4 x 4, ATV, UTV, and snow machines. This mountain lion hunt is a one on one hunt with multiple packs of hounds and houndsmen to accommodate multiple hunters. During this hunt weather and temperatures can change very quickly. This is all part of the excitement and pursuit of this magnificent animal. Have yourself ready for conditions like this, It can get very cold while on the snow machine but then it can get hot while on foot tracking the wild mountain lion over terrain that that big Tom is familiar with. Depending on the time of the year it can get down to -20 degrees so it is important that you bring enough clothes to accommodate the weather change, from snow, ice or sleet. Please expect a rigorous hike, remember we cannot pick or control where the mountain lion will run. We will use a snow machine to get as far as we safely can."We are a Veteran friendly guiding service"

Your Hunt

First day is the day you settle in, the second day let the hunt begin.

A typical day while hunting mountain lion hunt, will start as early as 3 A.M.. You will travel to the starting point of the destination in a vehicle. The houndsman will be loaded and ready with snow machines. From there you and the houndsman will travel on snowmachine to look for fresh tracks. Once a track or evidence of a cat is found and daylight has come the houndsman will let the hounds loose. This is when the exciting chase begins.

The Hounds

Once our hounds have picked up the scent of a cat, the challenge is keeping up with them in the, sometime, deep snow. The houndsman will have a GPS on each hound, once the hounds stop the chase, you will then continue to the hounds with the houndsman. Once there the thrilling chance of a lifetime can happen. We cannot always predict the sex, size or where the cat will be so you have to be ready for a few hundred yard shot or up close and personal. Most often the cat will be high in a tree, there are the few occasions that it will be backed up in a corner hissing at the hounds. Nothing is more exciting than seeing not only the hounds work but to put your own adrenaline to the test and come out with a trophy mountain lion.
